CHEMICAL weapons expert Dr Raja Subramaniam is expected to be the eighth witness in the murder trial of Kim Jong-nam today, defence lawyer Naran Singh said.

Raja, who is with the Malaysian Chemistry Department, will be asked to explain the workings of the VX nerve agent used to kill the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Naran said outside the Shah Alam High Court before the fourth day of hearing began.

“He is a VX expert. We will be asking him questions and will let you know how it goes later,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

Naran is representing Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, 28, who was charged together with Indonesian Siti Aisyah, 25, with Jong-nam’s murder at the klia2 departure hall on February 13.

The defence team from the first day of trial on Monday contested the claim that VX was the main cause of death.

Yesterday, deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin produced several samples containing the VX agent as evidence.

Doan and Siti Aisyah were brought to the courthouse at 7.45am today under tight security. The latter is being represented by Gooi Soon Seng, while Doan has three lawyers – Hisyam The Poh Teik, Naran and Salim Bashir. – October 5, 2017.
