APPROVAL for a German food and beverage (F&B) festival at a supermarket in Klang next week will be granted only if it meets the rules and regulations, said Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He said prior to this, he had approved similar programmes because the organisers fulfilled the terms and conditions including those outlined by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK).

“We have given approvals earlier… not only this year but in previous years as well. However, the approvals were given when the organisers complied with the conditions which have been set,” he told reporters after launching the Empowered Women’s Institute in Shah Alam yesterday.

He said this when asked to comment on the Centro German F&B Festival, where alcohol would be served, scheduled to be held on October 12 and 13.

On Monday, Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said police stood firm on their decision not to allow the event to be held after receiving information that militants may sabotage the event.

Fuzi said he had advised MPK not to allow such events to take place in areas under its jurisdiction.

MPK president Mohamad Yasid Bidin admitted that he had delayed approval for the permit following the organisers’ failure to meet the requirements, one of which was a permit from the police. – Bernama, October 5, 2017.
