PEOPLE disappointed with the Pakatan Harapan government now have an alternative in Umno and PAS, said Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Umno president said the first thing he realised after returning from leave from his position is the extent of the support the new alliance is receiving from the public.

“Our desire to unite the ummah is supported by the Barisan Nasional component parties. It is going to be an alternative to the people who are disappointed with the Pakatan Harapan.

“PH should know by now the people do not want them anymore. The Malay-Muslim community have disdain for the DAP agenda, which wants to marginalise them,” he told reporters after officiating the Parit Buntar Umno division meeting today.

The Barisan Nasional lynchpin, in its quest to wrest Putrajaya, has teamed up with traditional foe PAS, and the parties are on the verge of formalising their relations.

In a joint statement on Thursday, the parties said they will sign a charter on September 14, leading to the establishment of a nationalist Malay-Muslim opposition pact ahead of the 15th general election.

The charter will be inked by Umno president Zahid and his PAS counterpart, Abdul Hadi Awang, at the Putra World Trade Centre, Umno’s headquarters.

On the charter, Zahid said Umno and PAS division leaders together with those interested in the unity of the ummah will be invited to witness the signing of the agreement.

“BN component leaders, PAS and Umno veterans and Malay pressure groups will be invited to witness it,” he said. – July 28, 2019.

  • If the voters are really fed up with PH only after slight more than a year in power and choose to support the Taliban lebai liars and scUMNO crooks then the country is doomed.

  • Nothing is worse than an unholy alliance between a corrupt party and a Taliban-wannabe party. Its a toxic mix.

  • The desperation shown by these guys about getting back into power underscores their inability to cope with their present situation. UMNO lost its grip on power, and PAS backed the wrong horse. All these statements just continue to serve as reminders of their frustration.
