DEPUTY PKR president Mohamed Azmin Ali will not leave the party as he believes in its “reformasi” agenda, his political secretary Muhammad Hilman Idham said today.

Hilman dismissed rumours of Azmin’s departure, saying was “impossible for him to quit”.

“He won big in the party elections and has strong support from all levels in the party.”

“Keadilan is Azmin’s political foundation and he will remain in the party,” said Hilman.

He said talk of Azmin quitting was slander.

“These accusations are from those who have lost and will always lose to Azmin. They want Azmin out so they can steer the party where they wish. Fortunately, that will not happen.”

It is rumoured that Azmin will defect to Bersatu, taking 10 PKR leaders with him. Zuraida Kamaruddin and Saifuddin Abdullah are among the names said to be joining Azmin.

Talk has it that Azmin will call for a press conference tomorrow in Selangor.

PKR vice-president Tian Chua, meanwhile, slammed those who were trying to break up the party.

“There are certain people who want to create chaos by causing a rift between Anwar and Azmin.”

“Azmin’s loyalty to the party goes back 20 years,” he said.

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil, when contacted, said he had not heard talk of Azmin’s resignation.

“When was this?” he said when asked.

Talk on social media said Azmin wished to quit PKR after he was accused of having a homosexual relationship with Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, who has since been sacked from the party.

Haziq has claimed Azmin to be his lover and that the two of them were the men depicted in a series of leaked videos. Azmin has repeatedly denied the claims.

Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador has confirmed the authenticity of the video clip but has yet to affirm the identity of the two men. – July 25, 2019.
