THE probe into gay sex clips implicating a minister is ongoing, said the inspector-general of police in a curt reply to reporters’ queries on whether a political party leader will be called up for questioning.

“Investigations are going on actively,” said Abdul Hamid Bador on the sidelines of the National Strategy for Financial Literacy 2019-2023 event in Kuala Lumpur today.

“When we have completed the investigations, we will send the papers to the attorney-general.

“When I say it is ongoing, it means anyone can be called up as a witness or whatever it is. That is part of police investigations.”

He was responding to a report that a party bigwig will likely be summoned for questioning to close the probe into the clips, which implicate Economic Affairs Minister and PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The latest party leader to be questioned was PKR’s Kota Anggerik assemblyman, Najwan Halimi, who had his statement recorded at Bukit Aman yesterday.

The first-term rep was released after his questioning, confirmed party and police sources.

Police have, to date, arrested 11 people, including Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, the political secretary to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, as part of their probe.

Nine have been released. Farhash and former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz are expected to be freed today.

Haziq has “admitted” to being one of the two men in the clips, and named Azmin as the other.

Azmin has denied the claim. – July 23, 2019.
