POLICE today detained a Temiar Orang Asli as the authorities moved to break up the latest blockade put up by the indigenous group its ancestral land in the Air Chempan forest reserve, Gerik in Perak.
The group’s spokesman Anjang Aleuj said the man was arrested at about 9am.
“Only one person was detained. Police have not taken him to the station. He is still in the blockade area,” he told The Malaysian Insight.
This is the second round of arrest in the tussle between the Temiar tribe and loggers in the area.
Last Saturday, police detained three Orang Asli Temiar but they were released on the same day. – July 23, 2019.
