DR Mahathir Mohamad said today if he removed Azmin Ali over sex clips, the mastermind behind the videos would be the winner.

The issue isn’t a moral one but political, which should be solved politically, the prime minister said in his latest post in chedet.cc.

“I can take action because I have the power. But if I take any action, then the people behind this dirty campaign will feel victorious.

“My religion forbids me from spying on someone to look for what is bad to harm them.”

“What’s been done is worse than spying,” he said of the video clips which former PKR Santubong youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz admitted he was one of the two men in the videos, adding that the other man is the economic affairs minister.

Azmin has consistently denied the allegation.

On July 18, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said the video is authentic but police forensic investigators and CyberSecurity experts could not ascertain the men’s identities.

“I have often been asked about the sex videos,” Dr Mahathir said.

Keeping with his previous statements, he said the video clips, which went viral after the first was released in early June, were made “clearly for a political objective”.

The videos were specifically to block the political advancement of a certain individual, Dr Mahathir said.

“This is not a question of morals, it is a political problem. It should be handled as a political issue.”

Dr Mahathir said those behind the campaign had hoped that his intervention would lead to the dismissal of the individual.

“The hope is that I will disqualify the targeted individual. I can do that as I have the power to do so.

“If I took such action then the mastermind behind this evil move would have succeeded.”

Haziq, who was a former principle private secretary to Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, was sacked from the party on July 3.

He was earlier given the boot as aide to the deputy minister. – July 23, 2019.
