THE Sg Selangor and Rantau Panjang water treatment plants are back in operation, but it will take time before supply is restored to normal levels, said Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas).

In a statement this morning, Syabas said the plants resumed operations at 3.30am after they were shut following another contamination incident yesterday evening.

Customer relations and communication head Abdul Raof Ahmad said the company is still trying to stabilise water levels and the pressure system for distribution.

“It will take some time before supply is restored, even though the plants are operating again.”

The unscheduled water cut was the second incident in the Klang Valley over the past few days. The first occurred on Friday, after diesel was found at the raw water source in Sg Selangor.

A similar incident was reported yesterday, leading to the shutdown of four plants and more than a million households suffering dry taps.

Raof urged consumers to refer to the Air Selangor app, www.syabas.com.my website, and Air Selangor Facebook and Twitter accounts for the latest updates. – July 22, 2019.
