PRIME Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has brushed off rumours that a cabinet reshuffle was on the cards after he took a group photo with ministers yesterday.

“Yesterday was one of the few times when all the members of cabinet were present and we wanted to take a picture of everyone,” said the 94-year-old prime minister in Serdang today on the sidelines of the Bersatu emergency general meeting.

When pressed on whether there would be a reshuffle this year, Dr Mahathir replied: “What do you suggest? I listen to people, you know.”

Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir took a jibe at his former nemesis in Umno, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, who said that Pakatan Harapan could implode due to the ongoing crisis in PKR.

“He has a lot of experience with Semangat 46, so he knows a lot about it,” said the Bersatu chairman.

Semangat 46 was a party founded by Tengku Razaleigh in 1988, following his defeat to Dr Mahathir in the 1987 leadership contest.

After losing to Dr Mahathir in the Umno presidential race, Tengku Razaleigh led his “Team B” out to form Semangat 46.

Less than 10 years later in 1996, Tengku Razaleigh announced that he would disband the party and later rejoined Umno. – July 20, 2019.
