AN Umno representative is set to address the 19th Communist Party of China (CPC) national congress on October 18.

According to Umno Online, Malaysia is one of six countries invited to send a representative to the upcoming congress.

Party secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said he appreciates the close ties between Umno and CPC and the invitation is a reflection of the two leaders’ relationship.

“Although CPC practises the single-party system, it does not mean there is no democracy in its administration. In fact, there is transparency in the congress for the development of the people,” he said.

China’s ambassador Dr Huang Huikang made a courtesy call on Tengku Adnan at the Umno headquarters yesterday.

Huang said the close relationship between Umno and CPC ought to be promoted.

“Umno and Barisan Nasional are not only our political friends but also our regional friend that shares policies, culture, economy and education matters.

“The CPC also admires Umno’s and BN’s struggles and is proud of the relationship between the two parties,” he said, adding that the party looks to Malaysia as an example of how multi-ethnic groups could cooperate and live together. – October 3, 2017.

  • How could we accept this kind of offer. Tanah Malaya fought komunis for independence. Rakyat were killed to protect Tanah Melayu. How easy history of pain can be erased just like that. Where is our dignity? What r we doing? Forging close ties with a komunis party is absolutely crazy!
