IT is highly probable that the sex video implicating a minister is authentic, said Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador.

“The results of the facial recognition, however, have been negative and the video cannot be linked to the alleged personalities,” Hamid said in a statement today.

Hamid was commenting on the findings by Cyber Security Malaysia, which was tasked with investigating the authencity of the sex videos.

Police investigations, however, show that there is a vicious group behind the video, which is aimed at bringing down the reputation of an individual, said Hamid.

“The group is led by the leader of a political party.

“The people behind the video were paid hundreds of thousands of ringgit to circulate the video to the public,” said the police chief.

Last month, a series of clips showing two men engaging in sexual acts were released on WhatsApp.

Former Santubong PKR youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz then admitted to being one of the men in the videos, adding that Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali was the other.

Azmin, the PKR deputy president, has denied the claims, saying this was a plot to ruin his career.

PKR has since sacked Haziq.

To date, police have arrested nine people, including Haziq and Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak. Farhash is also political secretary to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

Hamid had said police are not ruling out the possibility that there was a conspiracy behind the videos, and those arrested had taken orders from a higher-up. – July 18, 2019.
