ZURAIDA Kamaruddin, one of the signatories of the statement from PKR leaders chiding Anwar Ibrahim over the sex video scandal, said today there are clear cracks in the party.
The PKR vice-president, however, said it is time for the party to heal the cracks and strengthen the party.
Tensions are apparent following a sex scandal allegedly involving party No. 2 Mohamed Azmin Ali.
“Yes, there is one of course on the perception and the media is blowing it up.
“But I think yes, it’s happening and to me, it is an opportunity to consolidate and heal the crack and move on.
The party should unite and find the culprits behind the sex clips, she said, adding that this is the best time for Anwar to act.
Zuraida was referring to a statement earlier today by 28 PKR central committee members and lawmakers who hit out at Anwar for not standing by his number two.
“I think it’s time that we should come together and reject gutter politics.
“We need to find the conspirator and the party has to unite and this is the right time for Anwar to do so.”
Zuraida hoped that something good would come out of the statement seeing that Anwar had accepted what the 28 have had to say.
“There is always the perception out there that there is a split, there is the obvious perception that the ‘timbalan’ (deputy) and him (president)and maybe among the 2,6, 27 or 28 of us who signed (yesterday’s statement) hold different views or are of different schools of thought so I think it is high time to put these schools of thought together.”
Zuraida said she will leave it to the president to decide on the next course of action and how he intends to deal with the statement.
She emphasised that it is high time all the leaders sit down to work together to chart the path forward, especially now that PKR is part of the ruling coalition. – July 18, 2019.
