KIM Jong-nam was still conscious when he arrived at the clinic on the level two of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 on February 13. He was however not responsive to questions and appeared to be in pain, the court was told today.

Medical assistant at Menara clinic, Rabiatul Adawiyah Mohd Sofi said Jong-nam was repeatedly thumping on the clinic counter with his left hand while seated on the chair as she examined him.

She said the clinic staff tried to get him onto a stretcher to take him into the treatment area but he was too heavy. They then laid him on the floor instead.

Jong-nam’s eyes were bloodshot and that he was sweating profusely, she said.

“The patient said there was something on his face so I took some facial tissues and wiped his face but his face still looked like he was sweating,” said Rabiatul.

She said she had no idea who he was and his passport was on the counter but she did not know who had put it there.

She was the third witness called to the stand today at the trial of 25-year-old Indonesian Siti Aisyah and 29-year-old Vietnamese citizen Doan Thi Huong, who are both accused od murdering Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong-un.

During cross examination, Rabiatul told the court she could not attest that the person she treated was the person identified in the passport as Kim Chol.

The person was also twitching, his jaw was locked, and his eyes were rolling, as if he was having a seizure. He was also drooling and liquid was coming out from his nose, she said.

She said his blood pressure reading was very high at 220/109. Normal blood pressure is 140/90.

His blood pressure was fluctuating while he was in the ambulance to Putrajaya Hospital, she said.

Upon arrival, the medical attendants could no longer detect his vital signs.

The deputy public prosecutor has called the clinic doctor Nik Mohd Adzrul Ariff Raja Azlan as the fourth witness.

Cross examination resumes tomorrow. – October 2, 2017.
