NAZRI Aziz and Khairy Jamaluddin will not be disciplined for their criticisms on Najib Razak as Barisan Nasional (BN) adviser, said Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa.
His comments come amid rumours that the two will be sacked from the party.
“I think…more of Nazri not much of KJ. I think strictly (it is his) personal statement. His personal view, and I think, if you ask other people, they might have another view.
“So we have decided there’s nothing wrong with members expressing their views. It’s not … (a) disciplinary matter. It is strictly a personal opinion and he’s entitled to it,” he told reporters in Parliament lobby today.
Nazri and Khairy have said Najib was not suitable to be BN advisory council chairman.
Yesterday, at the Padang Rengas Umno division meeting, Nazri said Najib’s appointment was not made by the Umno Supreme Council,
Khairy who also attended the event said it would be “madness” to expect BN and Umno to get different results with Najib in that role.
Asked if other party members agreed with Najib as BN’s chief adviser, Annuar said it was an administrative decision and not something constitutional.
“Of course. They agreed during the last BN supreme council meeting. It was a consensus and appointment was done according to normal procedure.
“It is not something constitutional because that position is not something that is required under the constitution.
“It is more like an administrative decision to have an advisory committee. Purely administrative. Maybe Zahid and other component party presidents felt it was a role they could create,” the Ketereh MP said. – July 15, 2019.
