Islamic institute event gets bomb threat

THE Amman Message seminar has been cancelled after a Facebook user made a bomb threat against the event, originally scheduled for Saturday.

Police corporate communications head Asmawati Ahmad said the decision to cancel the seminar was made solely by the organiser, International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS).

The threat was made on the “Gerakan Banteras Syiah” Facebook page last Saturday by one Amirol Md Zain, who posted: “Kita bomb tempat ni” (We’ll bomb the place).

“IAIS deputy CEO Associate Professor Dr Mohamed Azam Mohamed Adil lodged a police report yesterday (Tuesday),” said Asmawati in a statement.

“Police are conducting an investigation under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 507 of the Penal Code.” – Bernama, July 11, 2019.
