RM334.53 MILLION in assets and cash were seized by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in the period between August last year and August this year.
MACC also opened 952 investigation papers in the same period, said chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad today.
He was speaking at the launch of MACC’s new building in Putrajaya and the agency’s 50th anniversary.
“Since helming MACC on August 1 last year, the whole team has been very committed and showed dedication in their work.”
Dzulkifli said charges related to 405 cases and 910 arrests had been filed, while 6,419 tip-offs were gathered as of August this year.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Najib Razak announced a RM5 million allocation for MACC’s Yayasan Prihatin, to ensure the welfare of its members.
Dzulkifli said the foundation aimed to alleviate financial and other burdens faced by MACC staff and their families.
He said the foundation would also disburse funds to members of the public facing dire straits.
“Anyone can donate to Yayasan Prihatin as a sign of support for its establishment. All donations will be recorded to ensure transparency.” – October 1, 2017.
