PERAK has postponed indefinitely the swearing-in ceremony of executive council members this Thursday following a police probe into one of the members, who has been accused of rape.

The postponement was confirmed by the Perak Sultan’s office.

Police confirmed the investigation into the Perak exco member, who has been accused of rape by an Indonesian domestic helper.

Bukit Aman sexual crimes assistant director Choo Lily said a report was lodged yesterday.

The accused is said to be a second-term assemblyman.

Although his identity has been withheld, Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming said in a statement earlier today that the party took the matter seriously and would leave it to the authorities to conduct a full investigation, adding that no one was above the law. – July 9, 2019.
