PASIR SALAK MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has been suspended from Dewan Rakyat for four days after disrupting proceedings for about 20 minutes and refusing to obey Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming’s orders to leave the house.

After repeatedly ignoring the warnings, Nga said Tajuddin was suspended for four days for acting inappropriately.

“The order has been released. As a dignified person, please abide by the order of the proceedings,” Nga told the Umno MP who by then had ignored his orders to leave the chamber for the fifth time.

Tajuddin did not leave the chamber, insisting that he had supplementary questions to ask the agriculture and agro-based industry minister.

Nga responded that Tajuddin should have made better use of the time given to him to pose questions and continued the ministers’ question time with other lawmakers.

Nga also said the deputy minister could answer on behalf of the minister.

But Tajuddin said this was unfair as the minister had been present.

“The speaker is unfair and is being disrespectful to the people. The minister was here, why did he not answer?,” Tajuddin said.

Nga then chastised Tajuddin for wasting time picking on the minister, instead of asking his question. The deputy speaker then asked Tajuddin to leave the chamber.

This sparked a heated exchange, with Tajuddin asking Nga to leave instead.

“Speaker, please go out.”

His remarks sparked another war of words across the divide, with the word “communist” hurled by opposition lawmakers against the government bench. – July 3, 2019.
