PKR’S disciplinary committee will update the party tonight on the status of Santubong Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz following his allegations of having a sexual relationship with PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.
Party president Anwar Ibrahim said the political bureau would hold its regular meeting tonight and hear from the disciplinary committee which issued Haziq a show-cause letter last month.
“The disciplinary committee will alert us. His reply is to the disciplinary committee and not to me. So, they will update us,” Anwar told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
Asked if the disciplinary committee will update the political bureau today, Anwar replied: “It must be”.
The Port Dickson MP, however, did not want to reveal more when asked if tonight’s meeting of the political bureau would address the subject.
“A political bureau meeting is scheduled every week,” he said curtly before ending the impromptu press conference.
Haziq, who claimed that he was in a “relationship” with Economic Affairs Minister Azmin, was given 14 days to explain himself to the disciplinary committee on June 19.
This follows his “confession” that he was in a video that has gone viral showing him having sex with Azmin.
He said he and Azmin have had prior sexual encounters over the last three years.
Azmin has denied the allegations or that he was in the video and lodged a police report, as well as a qazaf (slander) report with the Islamic authorities.
Haziq is still the Santubong youth chief and has gone on to give interviews to some newspapers and news portals.
The former aide to Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar has also lodged a police report to defend himself from accusations that he had a political agenda behind his confession. – July 3, 2019.
