AN officer of CIMB Bank today told the High Court today that a company linked to Putrajaya MP Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor had received a RM2 million cheque.

Witness in Tengku Adnan’s corruption trial in the Kuala Lumpur High Court, Khairolrony Kamarudin said the cheque was from developer Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd

“The RM2 million was issued through a cheque from Hong Leong Islamic Bank, dated June 14, 2016,” said the assistant bank manager at the CIMB Taman Setiawangsa branch.

The cheque was deposited into the account belonging to Tadmansori Holdings Sdn Bhd.

According to Khairolrony, Tadmansori Holdings has had a current account with CIMB since July 8, 1998, when the bank was known as Bank Bumiputera Malaysia Bhd.

The officer said the account was opened by Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and Tengku Rethwan Tengku Mansor.

Tengku Adnan signed the Tadmansori account’s cheques from July 1, 1998 to January 21, 2001, the officer added.

The former Federal Territories minister is charged with receiving RM2 million from businessman Chia Kin Hong, a director of Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd, via  Tadmansori Holdings’ bank account, in the full knowledge that Chia’s companies had dealings with the government agency he headed.

Tengku Adnan is alleged to have committed the offence at CIMB Bank Bhd, Pusat Bandar Damansara Branch on June 14, 2016, under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to two years or fine or both, on conviction.

Questioned by defence lawyer Tan Hock Chuan about the account’s activities, Khairolrony said that there were three other transactions in 2016.

“Three transactions of RM2 million each were deposited in the company’s account on June 6, 16 and 17,” he said.

Another witness, Muhammad Akmaludin Abdullah from the Companies Commission of Malaysia, testified that Tadmansori was founded on August 25, 1987 as an investment company, and that Tengku Adnan is the biggest shareholder.

The four other directors are Tengku Rethwan, Tengku Iqbal Munawwir Tengku Adnan, Tengku Daud Shah Tengku Adnan, and Anggraini Sentiyaki.

Two more witnesses will be called to the stand today. – July 2, 2019.
