PAS Youth delegates has called for party leadership to run programmes to educate its veterans on the benefits of working with its one-time nemesis Umno.
Kedah PAS deputy youth chief Nasrun Othman said many party veterans are having difficulty coming to terms of the current ties the party enjoys with Umno.
“PAS Youth is committed to ensure victory in the 15th general election but we have to carry our veterans with us.
“Many of them are unhappy with having dealings with Umno due to the past between two parties,” he said, debating the youth chief’s policy speech at its assembly in Kuantan today.
Nasrun said many veterans are suspicious after their past dealings with Umno, when the lynchpin Barisan Nasional party helmed the federal government.
“But if we educate them, they will definitely come around to accepting our new relationship with Umno.
“For the sake of Islam, we are willing to forget the past. We want to govern Malaysia with Islam as its guiding principles and these new ties will give us an advantage.”
He said the current arrangement with Umno should not be seen as a means to positions after the two parties capture federal power. – June 20, 2019.
