'Kit Siang proof that DAP has been calling the shots' since 1990

DAP veteran leader Lim Kit Siang’s past actions show that the party is the de facto leader in the opposition, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak.

Given the majority seats that DAP had compared with others in the opposition pact, he said, the party dictated what happened in Pakatan Harapan.

The so-called partnership with Bersatu is merely to give PH a Malay face to present to Malay voters.

“Dr Mahathir Mohamad is merely a front to win Malay votes and is being presented as the so-called leader of the opposition, but he has no power to decide what happens even on matters such as seats.

“DAP has always called the shots, and it decides what happens,” he said on his blog today.

Earlier, Salleh, who is also Umno treasurer, said in 1990, it was DAP that decided to enter an opposition alliance with Semangat 46, but not with PAS.

“In 1999, it was again DAP that decided to enter an opposition alliance with PAS, but in 2001, DAP ‘divorced’ the alliance and went solo.

“Then came the 2008 general election, when DAP once again announced the formation of Pakatan Rakyat, and after the 2013 general election, announced that Pakatan Rakyat no longer existed.

“Even though they are supposed to be working on the basis of consensus, all the decisions and announcements were made by Kit Siang, and not by any of the other coalition leaders.”

Salleh said from 1990 until now, Lim had shown that DAP called the shots even though the opposition claimed that all component parties in its pact were equal partners.

However, Kit Siang’s actions over the last 30 years or so have shown that only what DAP wants matters, and if anyone does not follow what DAP wants, they will get kicked out.” – Bernama, September 26, 2017.

  • UMNO self standard of proof for itself is so low, that it's partner, Hadi's PAS, knee deep working with UMNO, still call itself a "clean party"
