BELEAGUERED PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali today alluded to hidden hands within the party working to ruin his reputation and take him down.
He said the party leadership should explain how the culprits who circulated the sex video clips had the contact numbers of all the branch leaders as well as the low-ranking members.
Azmin said he was told that the circulation of the video clips was not done through Instagram or Facebook but through messaging app, WhatsApp, to avoid identification of the IP address.
“And this WhatsApp groups contained the numbers of all the branch leaders, including low-ranking office bearers,” he told reporters at a Hari Raya gathering at his constituency in Gombak today.
“This is most alarming. Even I do not have access to this information.
“Who provided this information? Who established the WhatsApp groups?”
Azmin, who is also economic affairs minister, said there were separate WhatsApp groups for PKR members in Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsula Malaysia that the party leadership must explain.
“It is now up to the party’s disciplinary committee to investigate how the sender has access to all the contact numbers.
“They have to ensure what is best for the party. If they want to ensure that the party stays relevant and acceptable to the people, then something needs to be done.”
Azmin’s accuser, Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, was detained by police on Friday.
Haziq was greeted by several PKR members when he was released on bail at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters yesterday.
Azmin was also asked if this showed split or factions within the party.
“I will leave it to you to decide and interpret.
“I have done my part. Reports have been lodged with the police and religious authorities.” – June 16, 2019.
