ECONOMIC Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali has urged his friends and supporters to have faith as the “the truth shall prevail” against allegations he had sex with a man and recorded the act.

His message on Twitter follows his denial that it was him in the sex video that went viral last week.

“To all friends and well-wishers, thank you for your kind and reassuring words, thoughts and prayers.

“I am deeply grateful for the support and care you have shown me in this most trying time but fear not for the truth shall prevail and we shall overcome. In God we trust,” the PKR deputy-president tweeted.

He referred especially to the kindness shown to him and his family by Federal Territories mufti Dr Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri amid a hail of slander directed at him.

Azmin said he was greatly touched by the mufti’s advice and that it had given him the heart to continue serving the people and country.

Azmin is caught up in a scandal after a PKR colleague Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz confessed to being one of the two men in a sex video, and named Azmin as being the other man. 

Haziq had denounced Azmin in his confession, while also claiming to have had sex with Azmin multiple times.

Haziq has since been arrested for distributing pornographic materials as well as for committing carnal acts against nature. He was arrested yesterday night while attempting to board a plane for Manila, police said today.

Azmin has denied intimate knowledge of Haziq, whom he said he only knew ‘from afar’.  He has called the affair an evil fabrication to ruin his political career. – June 15, 2019.
