ALL political parties should reject gutter politics Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali has said, having been linked to a brewing sex scandal.

The minister was echoing the sentiments of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, adding that Pakatan Harapan had a huge responsibility to meet the public mandate, and should not become embroiled in gutter politics.

“I hope the prime minister’s advice is treated seriously by everyone,” he said after attending the Selangor state secretary’s Hari Raya open house in Shah Alam today.

Earlier today, reform group Otai Reformasi suggested Azmin go on leave on leave until the investigation into a viral sex clip, in which he is implicated with Santubong PKR Youth chief Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz, was complete.

Otai Reformasi chairman Idris Ahmad said the group was proposing that Azmin be given a “break” from his official duties to allow the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the video, which was released on Tuesday.

“This is also to preserve the good name of the Pakatan Harapan government in Putrajaya,” he told reporters at a press conference today.

On Jan 11, journalists from various local media organisations found themselves added to a WhatsApp group where video clips and lewd photos of two men having sex, one of whom was allegedly Azmin, were posted to the group.

Azmin has categorically denied that it was him in the video

“I was made to understand by the police, my political secretary Muhammad HIlman Idham was also called in to give his views this morning,” he said.

The post also accuses Hilman Idham of meeting Haziq to force Haziq into lying and denying that the minister was in the sex video.

When asked what the latest update was regarding the police investigation, Azmin said he did not want to get involved.

“I have my full confidence in police professionalism and what hope the process of the probe will go on smoothly.” he said. – June 14, 2019.
