MUHAMMAD Hilman Idham, political secretary to Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali, has admitted to recently meeting Haziq Abdul Aziz – the man who claimed to be in a sex video with the minister.
Despite that, Hilman has declined to state the reason for the private meeting.
Instead, he said he will leave the authorities to investigate the matter.
Hilman today lodged a police report and a “qazaf” (slander) report following the release of a video purportedly showing Azmin having sex with Haziq last month.
A Facebook account under Haziq’s name today claimed Azmin had sent Hilman to meet him at the Marriot Putrajaya hotel to get Haziq to deny that the minister is in the viral sex clip.
“He forced me to deny that it was you (Azmin) in the viral video and asked me to lie for you. I asked for more time to consult my parents and this angered him.
“After I refused, he made threats and said ‘this’ will be shut down within 48 hours with or without my help to lie,” according to the post.
Hilman told reporters today the reports were lodged in order for the police and the state religious authority to open investigations on the matter.
“As the political secretary to Azmin Ali, a police report was made today at the Putrajaya police station as well as the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi).
“I have handed over my report and my statement was recorded as a witness.
“We will cooperate with the police and we are confident that the sex clip is nothing more than to smear and tarnish the image of the minister,” said Hilman, who is also PKR deputy youth chief.
Yesterday, Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, denied being in the video and called it an attempt to destroy his political career.
“I refer to the various media reports today publishing the allegations of an individual regarding a sex video purporting to implicate me. I categorically deny this vicious libel upon me,” he said in a statement yesterday.
The video, which showed two men in bed, went viral after it was shared on several Whatsapp groups early Tuesday morning.
The video was disseminated yesterday to journalists who were added to a WhatsApp group by an unknown mobile phone number.
A video claiming to be of Haziq confessing to being Azmin’s partner in the clip was also shared.
It is not clear if today’s Facebook post or Haziq’s confessions are genuine, as Santubong PKR chief Ahmad Nazib Johari was quoted by the Borneo Post yesterday as saying Haziq has denied being in the sex video.
Haziq has not been reachable since the video of his confession was released yesterday. – June 13, 2019.
