PKR president Anwar Ibrahim apologised for the elaborate and grand breaking-fast ceremony recently hosted by the party’s youth wing, after certain quarters criticised the event as being disrespectful of the true meaning of fasting.
The Port Dickson MP said the organisers of the event, which featured songs and fireworks and was likened to have a carnival-like atmosphere, had been reprimanded.
“I apologise for this slip up,” Anwar said at a press conference held after PKR’s central committee meeting today.
He said the youth wing leaders were given a stern warning, and reminded not to indulge in actions that were not in line with the Islamic culture and tradition. – May 26, 2019.
