Cops raid Deloitte Malaysia office in 1MDB probe

BUKIT Aman has raided the Deloitte Malaysia office in what is believed to be in relation to its 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) probe.

Acting Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Saiful Azly Kamaruddin told The Malaysian Insight that a team was dispatched to the office this afternoon.

“Yes, we raided the office this afternoon,” he said without elaborating.

Saiful said as at 5.30pm, the raid was still ongoing.

Earlier, The Star had reported that the investigating team had confiscated several files and documents from the premises but no arrests had been made. 

A police source from the unit later said the cops left the building with boxes about 6pm.

On whether the boxes were taken to Bukit Aman, the source declined to comment.

He also declined to reveal the types of documents seized from the auditing firm.

Deloitte had been hired to audit 1MDB, and produced its financial statements for 2013 and 2014.

Deloitte was the third company to audit 1MDB. The first two companies were KPMG and Ernst & Young.

Both auditing firms were fired by 1MDB. – May 23, 2019.

  • Again, the misconception that auditors produce the financial statements. When will people get it right?

    Financial statements are produced/prepared by management/board of directors.

    Auditors audit and issue an audit report to attach it with the financial statements. Auditors do not produce/prepare financial statements.
