PARTI Bersatu Sabah (PBS) youth chief Jake Nointin has quit the party amid talks of him joining an opposition party.

He made the announcement today in Keningau, citing that PBS had deviated from its original goal to protect the rights of Sabahans and the state.

“After giving much thought, today, me and several of my friends in PBS decided to end our membership with immediate effect…

“Of late, it has become more obvious the party’s leadership has lost focus in realising PBS’ objectives for fear it would be targeted for negative speculation and perception,” he said.

It cannot be ascertained how many members have followed Nointin’s footstep but reports show around a thousand PBS members attending the press conference in Keningau today.

Nointin, who was also the PBS Liawan division chief, had been speculated to join Parti Warisan Sabah led by former Umno man Shafie Apdal.

A PBS source told The Malaysian Insight that Nointin has had several meetings with the top leaders of Warisan recently.

“There had been talks he had met with Warisan leaders in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur once and several times in Sabah,” he said. – September 22, 2017.
