FORMER Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia has thrown his support behind Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) for next Saturday’s Sandakan by-election.

Pandikar, who quit Umno last December along with several Sabah assemblymen, said he is backing PBS’ Linda Tsen Tahu Lin after seeing how ministers from DAP failed to deliver on their election pledges, citing Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo and Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

“They have failed to save the economy, and this is why I am throwing my support behind PBS candidate Tsen,” he said after joining the party’s campaign on Pulau Berhala, Sandakan, this afternoon.

Pandikar said he has more faith in Tsen than her main rival, DAP’s Vivian Wong, the daughter of the late Stephen Wong, whose death necessitated the polls.

Tsen is an experienced politician, having been Batu Sapi MP for two terms and holding the PBS vice-president’s post, he said, adding that she was “meticulous and spot on” when debating in Parliament.

Besides Tsen and Vivian, three independents are in the race for the parliamentary seat. They are businessman Chia Siew Yung, former state Amanah chairman Hamzah Abdul and former civil administrative assistant Sulaiman Abdul Samat. – May 4, 2019.
