EVEN though Pakatan Harapan’s popularity has dropped, the government will continue to fight corruption to save the country, said Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The prime minister admitted that support for the new government has dropped after the historic win at the 14th general election last year.

“The support has dropped even for myself,” Dr Mahathir said in his speech during a meeting with senior government officials in Putrajaya today.

He said during the Barisan Nasional administration, it was normal for the government officials to accept bribes.

“But today, this government has rejected bribes and there are those still in the government who are disappointed,” Dr Mahathir said.

“We will continue to save the country because corruption will destroy the country.”

Dr Mahathir’s popularity rating dropped to 46% from 71% recorded last August, said pollster Merdeka Centre based on its latest survey.

The survey also showed only 39% of Malaysian voters gave the PH federal government positive ratings, just weeks short of its first year in power. – April 30, 2019.
