A FORMER Umno parliamentarian has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission today for alleged corrupt practices in the Defence Ministry, including giving out contracts to supply aircraft parts valued at RM1.8 million, said sources.

The suspect was an aide to a former defence minister under the Barisan Nasional government.

The 50-year-old man with a Datukship was arrested at about noon today when he went to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya for questioning.

Sources said MACC was investigating the man for allegedly receiving gratification from vendors in order to get contracts in the ministry.

This included the contract to supply aircraft parts in 2017.

MACC is also looking for several other individuals involved in the case.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki confirmed the arrest when contacted.
