CEO, company adviser remanded on suspicion of bribing ministry officers

A 49-year-old female chief executive officer with a Datuk Seri title and a male company adviser with a Datuk title were today remanded for four days over allegedly bribing ministry officers.

Judge Shah Wira Abdul Halim in the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court ordered the two to be remanded until April 29.

The two, who are from the same company, are being investigated under Section 17(b) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 for bribery.

A source from the anti-graft body said the two suspects allegedly committed the offence in 2017.

The source refused to divulge the identity of the man and the woman nor would he name which ministry officers were allegedly bribed.

“The woman is a Datuk Seri while the man is a Datuk. The Datuk Seri was arrested after having her statement recorded yesterday while the Datuk was detained in Kuala Lumpur,” the source said.

According to The Star, two were working together to bribe enforcement officers not to take action against the company for making illegal deposits in 2017.

They were brought to the magistrate’s court at 9.30am on Friday. – April 26, 2019.
