THE Kuala Lumpur court has been told to lodge a police report over a video clip of Najib Razak’s SRC International Sdn Bhd trial that has gone viral.

“Police are already investigating the matter, but we advise the court to lodge a report,” city police chief Mazlan Lazim told The Malaysian Insight today.

He said he was informed that the court will conduct an internal investigation into the leaked video.

“I do not wish to comment more. The court has said it will also conduct an internal probe.”

Yesterday, Bersatu legal bureau committee member Saiful Ambar Abdullah Ambar said a report will be lodged over the matter, for alleged contempt of court.

The video of the court proceedings was uploaded by the ex-prime minister’s former aide, Isham Jalil, on his personal Facebook account.

Isham did not reveal how he got the video, and argued that Najib’s is a high-profile case and of great public interest.

He compared the video to the live telecast of the Teoh Beng Hock inquest.

Former DAP aide Teoh was found dead in July 2009 after being questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

It was reported that de facto law minister Liew Vui Keong said action must be taken against those who upload such recordings, which cannot be made public without the judge’s consent.

“I was made to understand that his (Najib’s) counsel obtained permission to get copies of the proceedings’ video recordings from the court,” he was quoted as saying by The Star.

“This should not be taken lightly, and the court should take action against those who upload such videos.” – April 20, 2019.
