TWO men have been arrested for stopping and illegally searching a police vehicle in Rantau yesterday, reports Malaysiakini.
A 52-year-old car salesman from Seremban and 36-year-old lorry driver from Rantau were nabbed this afternoon, said the portal.
Negri Sembilan acting police chief Mohamad Mat Yusop was quoted as saying the duo were picked up at their homes, and identified as members of a political party.
“The investigation is ongoing, and police are tracking down three more individuals to facilitate the probe.”
This morning, police said they were looking for five men who had stopped a patrol car in front of SJK (C) Chung Hua. They were wearing Pakatan Harapan T-shirts and vests at the time of the incident.
It was reported that the five were checking the vehicle for excess ballot papers.
Police are investigating the matter under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing public servants from carrying out their duties.
Earlier today, Election Commission chairman Azhar Azizan Harun lashed out at the PH workers in question.
He said such gangster-like behaviour should not be allowed to happen, and urged party leaders to rein in members.
The EC will hold a meeting tomorrow to discuss the action to be taken against the culprits. – April 14, 2019.
