RADIO Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), which has been around for 73 years, is as relevant as ever in the New Malaysia, said Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

He lauded the government mouthpiece for playing well its role of disseminating accurate news.

“We will always support RTM by granting press freedom… to meet the people’s demand for true, accurate news.

“I believe that both the state and federal governments won’t interfere in the reports prepared by RTM,” he said when opening the Fiesta Sehati @ RTM #UntukKomeLer programme at the Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Complex in Ipoh today.

Present were deputy director-general of broadcasting (strategic) Nor Hayati Awang and state Communications, Multimedia, Civil Groups and Cooperative Development Committee chairman Hasnul Zulkarnain Abdul Munaim.

“RTM must be aware of this responsibility (contributions to national development). Seventy-three years is not a short period of time. Even Malaysia just celebrated the 62nd anniversary of its independence.

“Therefore, logically, RTM must have reached the highest level of maturity, thus, its credibility should not be questioned.” – Bernama, April 13, 2019.
