DR Mahathir Mohamad said he has the right to make decisions regarding Johor as the state remains a part of Malaysia, over which he is head.

“I believe that Johor is still part of this country. Unless of course this is a foreign country, I don’t interfere in internal foreign country matters,” Dr Mahathir said sarcastically today when asked to comment on Johor’s Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s warning for outsiders to stop interfering in state matters.

“I want certain quarters to stop making noise and fighting about politics and focus on efforts to take care of the nation instead,” Sultan Ibrahim said on Facebook today.

“On matters concerning Johor, don’t be a busybody in meddling into the state affairs as this sovereign state still has a sultan.”

Dr Mahathir and the Johor royal family have been involved in a series of spats on social media, which escalated after Dr Mahathir warned Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim that action could be taken against him for any seditious remarks.

The latest tussle between Dr Mahathir and the state royalty is on the resignation of Johor Menteri Besar Osman Sapian, and who holds the power to select and appoint his successor. – April 11, 2019.

  • Make the move to secede then if Malaysia is not what you want to be a part of. That's called finishing what you started.
