PAKATAN Harapan will not dent Barisan Nasional’s chances in Rantau by harping on Mohamad Hasan’s decade-old RM10 million fund transfer, said former Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein.

The Sembrong MP said PH was only playing a psychological warfare by bringing up the old issue now as part of its election campaign.

He was also confident that voters would not buy into the political rhetoric aimed at spewing hatred.

Hishammuddin said PH was still stuck in its old ways and was finding it hard to part with its opposition mindset despite being the government for almost a year now.

“He (Mohamad) is no longer the menteri besar but from what I see, this is just a psychological warfare.

“The voters will decide who will win and lose. I don’t think the people of Rantau will fall for talks that are divisive in nature and filled with hatred,” he told reporters after a ceramah in Rantau today.

Negri Sembilan speaker Zulkefly Mohamad Omar, while stumping for PH candidate Dr S. Streram, brought up the RM10 million transfer which happened in 2008 and questioned Mohamad’s integrity.

Bank Negara had then investigated Mohamad for transferring the amount to London via a money-changer.

The matter came to light when the central bank conducted a massive probe into money-changers and their transactions.

However, Mohamad said he was investigated and cleared by the authorities 10 years ago, when the issue first surfaced during his time as Negri Sembilan menteri besar.

Mohamad and Dr Streram, along with two other independents, will be facing off for the Rantau state seat by-election on April 13. – April 7, 2019.
