PRIME Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the government might look to sell more of its assets and land to further cut the national debt.
But, he added that government assets and land will only be sold to Malaysian citizens, not foreigners.
“Yes, we still have assets, and if need be, we will sell government land.
“But the land will be sold to Malaysians, not foreigners,” Dr Mahathir told reporters at the lobby of Parliament today.
The Langkawi MP also said Putrajaya will make the decision based on the country’s needs, not on the objections of the opposition.
“They can object but they are powerless. The duty of the government is to do what it thinks is best.
“When they were in power, they never objected to selling off land to foreigners, it’s only now that they remember it.” – April 4, 2019
