NAJIB Razak today filed a judicial review application against the Federal Court’s refusal to grant him an order to stay his SRC International Sdn Bhd trial.

The matter was disclosed by one of the former prime minister’s lawyers, Harvinderjit Singh, when Najib’s corruption case involving 1Malaysia Development Bhd funds totalling RM2.28 billion was mentioned before high court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah.

Harvinderjit said the application was filed at the Federal Court, but no date was set for case management.

On March 27, a seven-man Federal Court panel, led by Chief Justice Richard Malanjum, lifted the stay of proceedings order granted by the Court of Appeal to Najib, which he applied for on February 8 to stall the trial pending the disposal of his appeals over interlocutory matters.

Earlier, senior prosecutor Gopal Sri Ram told the court that the prosecution has received a reply from Chief Judge of Malaya Zaharah Ibrahim to its application letter dated Friday, to have priority given to the SRC International trial rather than the 1MDB case.

The 1MDB trial was initially slated for April 15 to May 3. – Bernama, April 1, 2019.
