Lightning kills Rohingya footballer, injures teammates

A Rohingya died after he was struck by lightning while playing football in Setia Alam Shah Alam this evening.

It is learnt several of his teammates, also Rohingya, were badly injured in the incident.

According to Harian Metro, the Rohingya were playing football against a team of locals when a thunderstorm broke.

A police source said the incident happened about 5.15pm.

The Rohingya who died on the scene was identified as Rohimullah, 30. 

Abdul Rahman Abdul Hussin, Kamaluddin Abu Tahir and Hussein Ahmad Asod Ali were the others critically hurt. They were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for treatment.

“Abdul Rahman Abdul Hussin is in a coma, while two of his friends are still being treated,” said Klang Utara district police chief ACP Nurulhuda Mohd. Salleh. – March 10, 2019.
