AS Taman Manggis People’s Housing Programme (PPR) flats tenants continue their fight against eviction, one of the them has found herself in the soup over pictures of her flying business class.
Pictures of Khalidah Nazir Ahmad, 64, and her husband flying business class to Colombo in May 2014 have surfaced on social media.
A photo of her air ticket also showed she is a frequent flyer, with entitlement to fly business class.
Khalidah, who has been one of the most vocal tenants fighting eviction, dismissed criticism over the social media posts, saying how she travelled was her own business.
“Whatever is on Facebook is all lies. Those pictures are from a long time ago when I was working as a freelance tourist guide.”
Khalidah, who is now retired, said she was never asked about her income when she was offered a PPR unit at Taman Manggis years ago.
“When my old kampung house in Sg Pinang was demolished for a condominium project, I was given this PPR unit.
“I was one of the pioneer tenants when the flats were completed 13 years ago. When I was offered the unit, they never asked if I was rich or poor.
“The unit was given to me to compensate the loss of my kampung house,” she said.
PPR housing is meant for the poor and the units at Taman Manggis are rented out at RM100 a month, with maintenance fees of RM24.
Khalidah has been panned on social media since the photos went viral.
“They are lies. In Islam, those who lie about me have to come to see me to apologise. If not, they will take the guilt to their graves.” – March 8, 2019.
