THE ceiling price for RON95 petrol is lowered from RM2.20 to RM2.08 per litre, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

This means consumers will not pay above RM2.08 per litre for RON95 even if the market price goes up. The government will subside the difference, Lim said in a statement today.

The government capped the price of RON95 petrol at RM2.20 per litre in January when it introduced the weekly floating prices for fuel.

The price of diesel was capped at RM2.18 per litre, which remains unchanged.

“The decision to lower the ceiling price for RON95 was made at the cabinet meeting today in tandem with the Pakatan Harapan government’s commitment to reduce the people’s burden,” said Lim.

The new ceiling price takes effect from today. The retail pump price for RON95 as announced last Friday is RM2.08 per litre. – February 27, 2019.
