PAS today thanked the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for confirming that RM90 million linked to state investor 1Malaysia Development Bhd did not go into its accounts.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the MACC’s confirmation proved that claims the Islamist party took the money was mere slander to derail its 14th general election campaign.
Takiyuddin urged all parties to stop harping on the issue, adding PAS was ready to take legal action should anyone continue to slander it.
The Kota Baru MP was commenting on MACC chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull’s statement in Kuala Terengganu that its investigation found no evidence of RM90 million entering PAS’ account from any party, including those associated with 1MDB.
“The MACC investigation has not found any proof of funds totalling RM90 million, said to be 1MDB money, in PAS’ bank account,” he reportedly said in Kuala Terengganu.
Last week, The Malaysia Insight had reported that the anti-corruption agency had expanded its probe into PAS’ donors after failing to find any evidence of a direct transaction between Umno and PAS.
An MACC source had said several businessmen and prominent people who often donated to the Islamist party were being monitored and investigated. β February 24, 2019.
