THE Home Ministry is almost ready to submit a list of candidates for the new inspector-general of police (IGP) to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad .
Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the list will be handed over in a day or two and was limited to only a few names.
“I hope to get some confirmations in the next day or two and then I will submit the names,” he told a press conference after a by-election campaign event in Semenyih.
When asked, Muhyiddin was tight-lipped on the names of the possible candidates.
He last week said talks were in progress on a replacement for IGP Mohamad Fuzi Harun, and his deputy Noor Rashid Ibrahim.
Fuzi is to retire on his birthday in May, while Noor Rashid is up for retirement in March after serving an extended one-year contract. – February 22, 2019.
