A SURAU committee in Port Klang has made a police report after an idol of a deity was placed at the entrance of the Muslim house of worship’s prayer hall yesterday.

Surau Sabilul Huda official  Mohd Yatim Omar, 64, said he found the statue when he went to open the surau at 4.15pm for Asar prayers.

Yatim made a police report at the South Klang Pandararan station and handed the idol to them for further investigation.

“When I returned home from Zohor prayers, everything was good.

“It was only when I returned for the afternoon prayers, the idol was there.

“I was very surprised and did not know what the motive was or who put the idol there. Furthermore, this surau is not equipped with closed circuit television (CCTV).”

Yatim said that as far as he knows the surau has never received complaints or has any problems, apart from people who had stolen from its donation box over the years. – February 21, 2019.
