THE Housing and Local Government Ministry is currently reviewing the financial situation of 1Malaysia People’s Housing Programme (PR1MA) homes where construction has stalled, said Zuraida Kamaruddin.

The minister said a house’s construction may be discontinued if only 10% of it has been constructed.

“For homes that have been stopped, we are looking at the financials to see if these projects can continue.

“The ministry is still studying it because there are a few matters to be refined such as whether other requirements are being followed,” she told reporters at the launch of the FundMyHome-DepositKu scheme in Semenyih today.

“Those under construction will continue and those that have not started will not be developed,” she added.

She said PR1MA is currently undergoing due diligence with PricewaterhouseCoopers and the full report will be available once it is completed.

Houses that are completed will be sold at the Home Ownership Campaign 2019 expo from March 1 until March 3 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Last year, five affordable homes agencies were placed under the ministry. They are Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia, Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd, Uda Holdings Bhd, Projek Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin and Perumahan Penjawat Awam 1Malaysia.

The FundMyHome-DepositKu scheme launched today involves a crowdfunding system to help first-time homeowners and those from the B40 group.

When asked the scheme was being launched today in Semenyih in the middle of the campaign period for the by-election, Zuraida said the event had been planned ahead of time. – February 20, 2019.
