Court to hear Kimanis, Sipitang election petitions on March 1


THE Kota Kinabalu High Court has fixed March 1 for the hearing of the Kimanis and Sipitang parliamentary election petitions.

Former foreign minister Anifah Aman won the Kimanis seat while his nephew, Hafez Yamani Musa, won the Sipitang seat on the Barisan Nasional ticket in the 14th General Election last year.

The Federal Court yesterday ordered a trial for the election petitions filed by Warisan candidates Karim Bujang (Kimanis) and Noor Hayaty Mustapha (Sipitang).

Judge Lee Heng Cheong from Sibu will be hearing the Kimanis petition while Azhari Kamal Ramli from Kuching Court will hear the Sipitang case.

In GE14, Anifah won the Kimanis federal seat by 156 votes.

Hafez, who is also the son of former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman, won Sipitang by 852s in a three-cornered fight against Warisan’s Noor Hayaty and Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah’s Dayang Aezzy liman. – February 20, 2019.
