A PETROL bomb was hurled at an entertainment outlet in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya this evening, injuring one.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din, who arrived at the scene at 6.30pm, said two molotov cocktails were hurled at the DK night club and a Bangladeshi worker was injured.

“The incident occurred at the foyer of the club, which is located on the first floor of the Encorp Garden office.

“The incident happened at 4.10pm when the workers were setting up the place for their nightly operation.

“Two suspects, which we believe are Chinese, are involved in the case.

“They hurled two molotov cocktails but only one went off, injuring the worker on his arm and forehead,” he said.

Zani said they were investigating the case under Section 435 and Section 307 of the Penal Code, which dealt with mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage and attempted murder respectively.

“We are looking at the case from all angles, including extortion. It is believed that the owner of the premise was extorted for protection money before.

“This case is not related to any Islamist State (IS) activities,” he said.

Zani also said that they will be checking all the CCTV recordings around the premise to gather more information.

“It is believed that the suspects used a black Audi to flee the scene. We managed to get the registration number from the rear of the car,” he said.

Zani added that the worker is currently being treated at the Sungai Buloh hospital with burns suffered to about 20% of his body.

DK Club floor captain Mohd Sharif Alsirip, 21, said the worker got hit by the molotov cocktail when he was coming out of the toilet.

“It all happened so fast. One of our staff tried to give chase but the suspects got away,” he said.
