Papagomo remanded over alleged attack of Syed Saddiq

UMNO youth exco Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, better known as Papagomo, has been remanded for three days until February 20 to assist with police investigations into an alleged assault on Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

Kajang district deputy police chief Mohd Sabri Abdullah said the remand application was made this morning after the blogger was arrested at his home last night.

The remand application was heard at the Kajang magistrate court.

Another man, arrested in connection with the alleged assault, has been released on bail, Sabri told reporters at the Kajang district police station today.

Yesterday, two reports were lodged on the incident, which took place after the conclusion of nomination for the Semenyih by-election.

Investigations are being carried out under Sections 353, 147 and 323 of the Penal Code.

Syed Saddiq lodged a report at the Sg Way police station in Petaling Jaya.

Kajang district police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusoff said police had also received a report from a Kajang Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Division personnel member.

Video clips, which showed Syed Saddiq surrounded by opposition supporters as he made his way to his car after the nomination, have gone viral on social media.

Azri’s remand was publicised on his Facebook fan page.

“If they don’t like you, they’ll do all sorts of things to trouble you,” said the administrator of the page.

“I hope the voters in Semenyih will assess what is going on with this case.” – February 18, 2019.
